I, Jason Barreto am professionally known as DJ Backspin. I am a multi-genre DJ based in Surrey, UK, born and bred in Panjim, Goa. As a teenager, I have always been involved in music. I also studied at Kala Academy (music school) in Goa and gained knowledge in various musical instruments. Learning to play an instrument is one of the coolest things you will ever do. Having a musical background gives you the boost in confidence and understanding of different genres and styles of music, which places you in a great position to be an experienced DJ.

However, besides the above and no matter how experienced I think I am in my field, I believe there is always room for improvement. I look forward to and am always willing to learn new skills to enhance my expertise as a DJ. I have learnt and continue to learn the DJ work and master the tools needed to be the best DJ I can be. This is my passion and profession and I take pride in my work. It is not only about playing songs; there is so much more! Knowledge of the music genres, various types of events, cultures, having an outgoing personality and being confident in front of a crowd, understanding of sound and lighting equipment are all imperative to being a successful DJ.  I aspire to create an atmosphere of energy and excitement making people wanting for more. I want people to leave saying “WOW! Such an amazing night.”
